Hands-On Repair Training: Insurance Adjusters Return to Advance Auto Body

What started as a one-time event in January has officially become a regular thing. In August we hosted our third insurance adjuster training day of the year, welcoming a group that included team members from Kemper back to our Santa Fe Springs facility — and this session was the most hands-on yet.

From Watching to Doing

The first two sessions focused on walking adjusters through the repair process. This time, our technicians put the work right in front of them:

• Dent repair demonstrations - Live glue-pull dent repair on a roof panel, showing how modern techniques restore panels that used to be automatic replacements
• Panel measurement - Measuring damaged doors and panels the way our estimators do, so the numbers on an estimate connect to the metal on the stand
• Metal work up close - Following a damaged panel through straightening and refinishing prep, step by step
• Refinish and paint - A walkthrough of our paint operation, from the refinish system to the spray booth, and what factory-quality color matching actually involves
• Damage walk-arounds in the lot - Real vehicles awaiting repair, examined side by side with our estimators

Why We Keep Doing This

When an adjuster has watched a glue-pull repair happen or seen what refinish prep really takes, their estimates reflect it. Repairs get approved with fewer back-and-forth supplements, and the customer gets their car back sooner. Three sessions in one year tells us the carriers see the value too.
